A Conversation with the Historic Hingham Home’s Architect

Designing an 8,000 square-foot-home came naturally to architect Brian Cavanaugh. After Brian walked through the historic Hingham Harbor home with homeowners Beth and Ed, he designed a space that was classic and spacious, but also with a variety of rooms. According to the architect’s philosophy, each room should have separate purposes and therefore encourage different ways of living.

“A house shouldn’t be just of one type of space,” says Brian. “If you want to sit down and read quietly you’re going to have one kind of space. If you are going to entertain a large crowd you want to have another kind space, and all those things have to work together, but at the same time, you want them all to have their own character.”

For a tour of the entire home, watch Episode 1 of Season 1.
