The centerpiece of the Newtown, CT episode of New England Living TV is an 18th-century farmhouse set on 63 acres of land. Pete and Summer, the homeowners, recently completed a top-to-bottom renovation of the house which more than doubled its size with Pete, an architect, overseeing the remodel himself. With salvaged elements such as wood flooring and beams incorporated into the new spaces, it is nearly impossible to tell where the original home ends and the addition begins.
After touring the home with Pete and Summer, Host Parker Kelley spends time with the couple in the 16-stable barn on the property. Summer is seasoned rider who competes on the national and international level and she, and the couple’s children, ride nearly every day. Parker climbs into the saddle to enjoy a leisurely ride with Summer and a variety of kids and dogs on one of the property’s riding trails before heading to La Zingara, an Italian restaurant in nearby by Bethel that is a favorite of Pete and Summer, where meets with the owner, Lisa Tassone. While at the restaurant, Parker assists in preparing handmade ravioli with Chefs Claudio Quezada and Romelio Pauta that will be one of the courses in the dinner that evening shared by the homeowners and a gathering of friends.
The episode concludes with Parker, Pete and Summer, and friends savoring a hearty meal in the inviting dining room. “Beautiful friends in a beautiful setting…this is New England Living,” is how Parker describes New England Living TV’s time in Newtown.
