The fourth episode of New England Living TV brings us to Camden, ME. Set along the coast in the middle of the state, and home to Mount Battie, Camden’s unique topography has led to the town being known as “Where the land meets the sea.”
Set close to Camden’s charming downtown area, yet tucked away in the woods, the home featured in this episode is referred to fondly as “Nested Neighbor.” While the home, which was designed and built by Phi Builders + Architects, is fairly new, its use of classic Maine farmhouse design elements paired with contemporary touches give it a “meant to be there” appeal.
Owned by Lani, who shares the home with her three-year-old son, Benjamin, “Nested Neighbor” is a blend of grown-up spaces and kid-friendly areas. A vibrant shade of turquoise used throughout its interiors gives the home a cheerful feel, even during Maine’s lengthy winters. With an indoor slide, the open loft area on the second story is clearly Benjamin’s domain!
Host Parker Kelley spends time touring the home with Lani, and then chats with Trevor and Chris at Phi about its design, before heading to Cellardoor Winery in nearby Lincolnville. She and Lani also found time for a quick morning hike on Mount Battie where they take in the breathtaking views of the sea.
As a caterer, and the owner of Megunticook Market, Lani enjoys cooking dinner for frequent gatherings of friends. She and Parker chat as they prepare crab cakes and lobster lasagna at the turquoise-colored island in the center of the kitchen. The episode closes with Parker, and Lani and a group of Lani’s dear friends, enjoying Lani’s delicious creations and toasting New England living.
