With half the summer still ahead of us, now is a great time to freshen up your home and patio to reflect this most relaxing of seasons. We checked in with an interiors magician who knows how to do summer right: Herbert Acevedo, co-owner of shor, a Provincetown fixture that’s famous for home decor and gifts as well as architectural and interior design services. Below, the veteran designer offers decorating tips for both inside and out.
TIP #1 Create a cozy niche for an outdoor-inspired banquette and fill it with summer sky blues. Keep it natural by clipping a few pretty leaves from the yard and filling a simple glass vessel with them for tabletop flair.
TIP #2 Break out themed pillows, with images like sailboats and lobsters, for a nautical, breezy look.
TIP #3 Enjoy an outdoor shower and make it a fun experience by adding sexy saloon doors and lush towels. (Image by Joe Keller)
TIP #4 In an urban apartment, choose a bright watery painting to wake up to. Add a few beachy items, like a driftwood stem or sailboat monkey knot, to bring in happy summer memories. (Image by Eric Roth)
TIP #5 Take an unused corner and create a happy gathering nook for casual warm-weather meals or a round of mojitos! (Image by Laura Moss)
