Realtor Jenepher Spencer has made giving back to the community part of her winning strategy.
For Coldwell Banker agent Jenepher Spencer, real estate is more than a job – it’s a lifestyle. “Any successful realtor really has to be available 24/7,” she says. So, when Spencer works with home buyers and sellers in Massachusetts (specifically, Groton, Dunstable, Westford, and surrounding towns) and southern New Hampshire, she is always on call. “Clients want someone who is immediate.”
Spencer – who represents the top 1% of Coldwell Banker agents worldwide – describes herself as a full-service realtor. This means that she works with clients “from beginning to end,” including the process of preparing a home for market and having it staged. But often, her role exceeds that of a typical real estate agent: “My ‘why’ is to help people who are really in crisis,” she says, explaining that home sales often revolve around challenging times like divorce or the loss of a family member. These are the moments that Spencer finds she can have a positive impact on the lives of others. “I feel like I’m really empathetic and can help people in that way.”
A Groton, Massachusetts resident, Spencer’s passion for giving also extends to her hometown and local organizations. “Part of every commission I make, I give back to the community,” she says. The realtor frequently has a presence at local events, renting an ice cream truck to hand out free treats at the annual GrotonFest, sponsoring library reading programs, and contributing to the Pan-Mass Challenge, a bike-a-thon across Massachusetts that raises funds for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. “I love being part of an industry through which I can give back to the community I live in,” she adds.
For those considering selling their home this summer, Spencer offers a pro tip: “You don’t have to have million-dollar landscaping,” she says. Instead, Spencer recommends simply making sure your home is neat and clean with a bit of curb appeal. “I’ve sold completely original homes, and they get a lot of money because they’re well taken care of.”
