Newtown Fundraiser

At 6 years old, Catherine Violet Hubbard had one true love—animals. She would spend snow days making business cards promoting animal rescue. One of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, Catherine’s parents honored their daughter’s memory by creating the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary.

“We decided when we wrote Catherine’s obituary that we would honor her by honoring her love of animals,” says Jenny Hubbard, Catherine’s mother.

The charitable organization hosted a fundraiser gala this past winter at a horse stable owned by Peter and Summer Paulos, who donated their property for the kick off campaign for the building of the sanctuary.

With the help of the ASPCA, Best Friends, and the Jane Goodall Foundation, this dream is finally becoming a reality. The money raised from this fundraiser will help build the sanctuary, which will serve as a place of healing and where animals will be rescued, respected, and loved.

“Our sanctuary is a place where all lives are enriched by compassion and acceptance,” says Hubbard. For more information on the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary, visit cvhfoundation.org.
