Realtor Christine Pomer takes a solutions-based approach.
Some real estate agents become experts on the community where they live, and Christine Pomer is no exception. But her expertise extends beyond Belmont, Massachusetts, the town she has called home for over 20 years. “I offer clients information about a multitude of towns and different things that might be important to them,” she says. “I have a lot of knowledge into many communities.”
Working out of the Lexington office of Coldwell Banker Realty, Pomer assists buyers and sellers in a range of surrounding towns. A member of the Coldwell Banker® International Society of Excellence, reserved for the top .5% of agents worldwide, her analytical mindset is one of many strengths that has set her apart from other agents over her 18 years in the industry.
“I can not only look at the market data but also sit down with a client and talk with them to try to understand their needs and come up with a strategy of how to find the home they’re searching for,” she explains.
When listing a home, Pomer says, she considers how to present the property to get the best value for the client. In addition to equipping homeowners with lists of resources on preparing their homes for sale, she provides professional home staging and photography in a full-service approach. “I just want my houses to be an extension of them and me, and I want it to look really beautiful. And the results are good,” she says.
In some ways, real estate can be a balancing act. Pomer is keenly aware of the need for efficiency and quick decision-making while maintaining a sense of empathy during what can be a complicated process for her clients. “It might be a family that has owned a home for 60 years and is now selling and relocating to be with their kids, and getting things emptied out. It’s a very emotional process for people, so being sensitive and kind about that [is crucial], while also handling the task of selling their home and getting them the top price we can,” Pomer adds.
In the current market, Pomer and other realtors are grappling with the limited homes for sale – which requires a bit of creativity. As a result, she turns over “every rock” in order to find properties that meet her clients’ needs. This solutions-based approach gives her an advantage in a competitive, ever-changing industry.
Pomer says, “People really appreciate my experience and guidance to say, ‘OK, what do you think is the best way to get through this situation?’ Whether we’re negotiating a deal, an inspection, or trying to figure out specs and finishes for new construction, those are the things that I do with buyers and builders.”
Pomer is also able to work cooperatively and respectfully with her fellow agents. Often, those relationships are mutually beneficial and translate to future business. Although her three children are now adults, she continues to support the Belmont Public Schools through organizations like the Belmont Foundation for Education and Belmont sports teams, as well as other causes in both the Belmont and Lexington communities.
