Home inventory on the South Shore is becoming more robust, with many luxury homes on the market this spring.

Regarding the active real estate market in Hingham, Mass., and surrounding areas, South Shore Luxury Specialist Tara Coveney says she has witnessed almost every possible scenario in her career working with Coldwell Banker. “Currently, it’s still a seller’s market,” says Coveney. However, for the first time in years, the options of properties for sale aren’t limited.
“The inventory is building. There are 51 homes on the market, the most we’ve had since 2020.” Coveney says that inventory still isn’t as high as pre-pandemic, but demand for homes in this area isn’t waning. “We’re not seeing buyers on the sidelines.”
The most desired properties are single-family residences prepped to welcome their next family without too much updating or renovation work. “The turnkey house where the buyer doesn’t have to do anything will always sell at a premium,” says Coveney. Coveney often works with clients to thoroughly edit out personal items to prepare a house for showing, so that potential buyers can easily envision living in the interior spaces. “You have to make the house look like nobody lives there.”

One stunning property that Coveney is thrilled to represent is 2 Beach Lane, a waterfront home with five bedrooms and more than 5,000 square feet of living space. It is being offered for $6.185 million. “The views are spectacular. You can see the Boston skyline.”
Whether helping a first-time homebuyer through the milestone of a property purchase or helping homeowners traverse their next move, Coveneny’s insight into property values helps clients navigate an array of market variables. The experienced broker credits the support and opportunities with Coldwell Banker for career success over the last 21 years with the company. “In my professional career, I’ve always been in sales, and Coldwell Banker, to me, in the town of Hingham, has always been the number one agency. I greatly respect the company, what it does, and the people that work there.” Plus, there is a touching detail about the connection with the company that is more personal, adds Coveney. “My mother was a Bedford, NY, Realtor and worked for Coldwell Banker.”
